Ruthanna's Background

Ruthanna Levy is a certified dog trainer. In addition to training Puppies AND People,
she has found a way to combine her new vocation, dog training with her previous avocation,
dance. The result is Canine Freestyle, which combines training, movement and music, and
provides a wonderful and enjoyable way to train adult dogs.

Prior to becoming a dog trainer, Ruthanna spent 15 years as a professional theatrical dancer, culminating in her selection to participate in the opening and closing ceremonies for the
1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

Ruthanna offers Canine Freestyle Workshops and Canine Freestyle Classes, a full range
of dog training classes and private consultations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Ruthanna lives with her husband Jeff, an Art Director, her dogs Ziggy & Breaker and cats
Sister Sara & Hootie.


Ruthanna's Qualifications

Ruthanna graduated from the San Francisco SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers in 2000.
The Academy provides a comprehensive and leading edge education to dog trainers and
behavior counselors. Animal learning and motivation, operant and classical conditioning,
dog behavior, behavior problems, aggression, clicker training, obedience progressions and
class structure are but a few of the subjects studied. Headed by renowned dog trainer and
lecturer Jean Donaldson, author of bestsellers "The Culture Clash" and "Dogs Are From
Neptune," the San Francisco SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers — commonly referred to as
the Harvard for dog trainers — is recognized as one of the best sources in the country for
continuing education in canine behavior and training.


Ruthanna's Continuing Education

Ruthanna is a strong believer in continuing education and attends seminars and workshops
yearly with both nationally and internationally renowned trainers and lecturers.

Ruthanna is a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers — APDT.
